Chapter 1
He took his coffee to go. Today, he didn't have time to sit down and drink it there. Today he was in a rush. He came into the office 15 minutes late, spending 5 of these minutes walking around his boss's office, trying to avoid being seen late. This was the first time he came to the office after 8. Today, however, he had a good excuse. After all, he couldn't come in to work with blood on his hands; he had to be clean.
Yes, last night Eddie killed a man, though he did not do it on purpose.
He was out with his girlfriend. The night was coming to its end at around 2am in a local bar, the Hop. Eddie always brought his girlfriend to this place at the end of their anniversary celebrations. Tonight was no different except for what happened next.
As Eddie turned to the bartender to pay for the last round of drinks, a man came up behind Lily and grabbed her to the dance floor. Moments later, he was attmepting to hit her, as she struggled to get out of his grip. That's when Eddie heard the commotion. As if he practiced it many times before, Eddie grabbed the empty bottle of beer from the bar, broke it on the counter and walked over to the perpetrator.
The guy who snatched Lily was no longer holding her. He was now screaming louder than a woman in labor, and running around the bar trying to get the half-bottle out of his back, where Eddie had planted it moments later. In fact, Eddie has never done this before, but he was perfectly precise. He punctured the guy's flesh and left the bottle firmly edged between his ribs. Angry enough to continue his attack, Eddie grabbed another bottle, but this time he broke it on the bastard's face, instead of the bar counter. The guy was bleeding badly, and was now as angry as Eddie, but Eddie didn't care.
Eddie took the cue off of the pool table. He held it by the thinner side. He never liked swinging a bat; he has always preferred soccer. But today, Eddie swung like a pro. The butt of the cue landed on the other guy's mouth, and his teeth flew up like the birds scared off the pond by a bored kid. The man fell down from the impact, and Eddie approached him. Right as the guy tried to get up, Eddie threw the cue onto his throat and proceeded to push on it. It was about 30 seconds before his feet stopped moving. It was the longest half a minute of Lily's life. But Eddie didn't seem to notice how long it took. He was just glad the guy got what was coming to him.
